STAND UP and BE COUNTED
Say that next month you are to take full control of the world.
You need to assemble a team to help you run the planet and need
a plan of attack to ensure the world is good place for you and future
generations to live. Where would you
start?
Think about it a moment…
How would you resolve wars going on right now?
How would you tackle environmental concerns?
We could make this a little easier by saying that you start with
your country. What would you do there?
…
What about starting with you city?
…
How about your neighbourhood? Still difficult? Easier?
We can zero in more to our family, our home and then ultimately
start with ourselves. As a member of a family, a neighbourhood,
a school, a company, sports club, city, country, continent or union
and planet the best place to start to make a difference is by looking
at ourselves. What are you doing to
make a difference? Do you treat yourself as well as you should?
Are you giving yourself the right ingredients to flourish?
What makes a good parent? Are you a parent now or wish to be one
in the future? Do you already have the things it takes to be a good
parent? Are you trying to get those things now to ensure that you
are a good parent?
Do you know what is going on in the Sudan? If you are to take control
of the planet you really should. Do you know what is happening in
the company you work for? Do you know how your cousin is doing?
There has to be a minimum degree of participation taken by a citizen
surely. What is the moral or ethical minimum? Not breaking laws?
This topic has become too heavy for me too fast. It was only really
meant to provoke some thought on social responsibility.
I think we should find out what the minimum levels are to be a useful
person and member of all the associations from partner through to
global citizen and do them. Knowing your carbon footprint and being
carbon neutral would be a good start. Saying hello to kid on the
bus instead of ignoring them might be nice. Then anything over the
minimums will give you extra happiness and satisfaction and take
you closer to God or something.
Give it a go and let us know how you got on.
Cheers!
